Call for expression of interest of potential beneficiaries from the Social Grocery store, within the framework of the Act “Social Structures for Immediate Address of Poverty” in Neapolis- Sykies Municipality”

The Neapolis- Sykies Municipality and the Ergani Centre as Lead Partner, invite potential beneficiaries to express their interest for participation in the actions of the Social Grocery, a structure which is operating within the framework of “Social Structures for Immediate Address of Poverty in Neapolis- Sykies” Act. The Act is adopted by the Ministry of Labor’s General Secretariat for the management of Community and other Funds, within the framework of Operational Programme “DEVELOPMENT OF HUMAN RESOURCES” and co-financed by the ESF (European Social Fund).

The social Grocery is located on the ground floor of the municipal building in Neapolis, Agiou Stefanou Street, number 26. It is a structure which appeals to residents of Neapolis- Sykies and aims to fight poverty, while improving the living standards of the area’s families and persons, who are in a state of need. Its operation is based upon collection and contribution of food, everyday use goods, clothing and sanitary material, to cover every basic and secondary need. It will be open from Monday through Friday between 9.00 and 17.00.

150 families of Neapolis- Sykies Municipality will benefit from the services of the Social Grocery.  Each family will be receiving 40 euros worth of food and essentials per month.

The beneficiaries who will be receiving the services of the Social Grocery, must fall under one of the following categories:

o   Uninsured persons with very low annual income

o   Persons who possess proof of poverty

o   Long term unemployed beyond the age of 45

o   Members of families affected with multiple unemployment

o   Unemployed single parents

o   Unemployed members of large families

o   Unemployed, members of families who support family members with disabilities or chronic illnesses

o   Persons with very low annual income (the financial conditions for a person to be certified as indigent, are described by the Directorate of Social Welfare to be the following: for one person, maximum income limit 6.000 € and for every other person, the amount of 1.200 € is added, while the rent is abstracted). Also, the employment situation of family members will be taken into account.  

The candidates, along with the application, must provide the following documents:

1.     A photocopy of Identity Card or Passport

2.     A photocopy of Unemployment Card

3.     A Residence Certificate or a Registration Certificate in Municipal Roll or an electricity/phone bill in the name of the potential beneficiary

4.     A certified copy of the IRS financial statement

5.     A solemn declaration of the 1599/86 law to ensure that the person is participating to the program through only one of the implementing bodies.  

6.     Recent Civil Status statement
