ELIEMENTAL - developing enterprise in your community 1st Advisory Panel Meeting in Greece 1st Advisory Panel Meeting in Greece
26/2/2015

Date: Mar 02, 2015

The 1st Advisory Panel Meeting took place on Thursday, 5th February 2015. The meeting was successfully organized by our partners in Ergani, who made all the invitations and necessary arrangements with the panel members. Our panel included policy-makers (the debuty mayor for social policy issues), entrepreneurs representing the business world of Thessaloniki and the regional innovation hub, and people from business coaching and mentoring.

The discussion lasted around 1.30 hour, and was really fruitful. Ms Dandidou from Ergani and Dr Lazuras from SEERC, presented all the activities of ELIEMENTAL to date, and the expected impact we want the project to have in the identified target groups. All panel members were happy about the project, and will really like to be involved in future activities. In summary, the bottom-line messages are the following:

Improving the project: For any future developments/follow-ups of ELIE+, consider studying wider groups from diverse (rural/urban) areas, so that we get region-specific differences with respect to entrepreneurship potential (e.g., rural area people might engage more in agriculture-related activities, than urban citizens). Business reprsentatives also highlighted the importance of actual training on the daily hassles of running a business (e.g., red tape paperwork etc.)

Maximizing impact/dissemination: The deputy mayor is willing to co-organize with Ergani a big event in the municipality, after the event in Brussels, that will present ELIE+. The innovation hub rep suggested that we invite our mentees to participate in a 'start-up contest' where they will present their business ideas to the public, and all of them will be awarded prizes by the deputy mayor. Details of such an event need to be considered at a later stage.

Sustainability: Even if ELIE+ ends in December 2015, the deputy mayor and the innovation hub representative were really keen and willing to foresee any opportunities to follow-up ELIE+ with a new project, either locally or through Erasmus+
