Project Activities :

The scope of the programme was to support members of vulnerable social groups with the ultimate goal to create the necessary conditions for their optimum social and professional integration. Throughout the programme the beneficiaries had access to a range of services :

  • Ways to resolve practical aspects of the integration of specific population groups, such as the legalizing process and other related issues.
  • Enhancement of social competences ( self-knowledge and self-management skills , social awareness , interpersonal relations etc.)
  • Development and enhancement of professional skills and promotion to training or pre-training programmes.
  • Support through counseling sessions in job-hunting techniques.
  • Support in securing a place in the job market.
  • Supporting entrepreneurship ( Business plan preparation )
  • Information and continuous updates on health, social provision , and professional topics that were of interest to the beneficiaries.
  • Psychosocial support , empowerment , encouragement and active participation of the beneficiaries in actions for alleviating social tension or problems of racial/social exclusion.
  • Motivation of the beneficiaries for participating in the social , political , and cultural life maintaining at the same time their own cultural identity.
  • Legal Counseling and information
  • Monitoring of the beneficiaries’ progress throughout the programme and after its completion.

Title : Simulated Career Days for unemployed women who are encouraged in job hunting

Project Activities :

The aim of the action plan is to help unemployed women, who have already benefited from the services of ErganiCenter through counseling, to come in touch with local employers 

Ergani provided, through the project, information, support and guidance to members from vulnerable social groups (women facing single parenthood, unemployment etc.) in order to enter labour market. The acquaintance among employers and women took place at Diavata during the Simulated Career Days that were organized by ErganiCenter and Developmental Agency of Thessaloniki. A lot of small and medium enterprises are located in the region of Diavata. The final goal is, on the one hand, the familiarization of women with the procedure of job interview and their vocational rehabilitation, and on the other hand, their contact with the enterprises of the specific area

Target group : 60 unemployed men and women (37 unemployed women, 8 unemployed men, 15 businesswomen)

o   Provision of integrated counseling services at an individual or group level ( counseling in professional orientation for the unemployed and in business plan preparation for candidate entrepreneurs ).

o   Connection to the Greek Manpower Employment Organisation (OAED) programme for New professionals.  

o   Provision of specialised counselling services in aspects of business activity development of active businesspeople.

o   Psychosocial Support and Legal Counseling Services.

Provision of support to the centres and advisors of North-Western Thessaloniki through knowledge transfer activities and monitoring of counseling on female entrepreneurship and professional orientation.

The counseling sessions were on professional orientation for unemployed people looking for a job and on business plan preparation for unemployed women interested in establishing their own company.  

o   Promotion of women to various types of employment (i.e. STAGE, New Work Placements etc.)

o   Provision of specialised counselling services in aspects of business activity development of existing businesspeople.

o   Provision of integrated counseling services to unemployed and working women ( Employment and Entrepreneurship Counseling , Psychosocial support , Legal Counseling ) for their integration in the labour market and the development of new skills and qualifications.

o   Organisation and Support of a network of organizations that will provide their services to unemployed and working women as well as to potential female entrepreneurs through permanent resource centres and counseling structures.

o   Knowledge Transfer activities to regional authorities and organizations, so that they can autonomously offer counseling services to local women.

Project Activities :

The coordinator in this project was the Municipality of Ugheni from Moldova ; the main target was the establishment of a Women’s Resource Centre (WRC) in this municipality and the further development of a WRC in Romania’s Iasi. In this project the Ergani Centre was responsible for the transfer of knowledge activities

Title : WIN- WIN: Women Network for Innovation and Entrepreneurship

Target group : Women who are unemployed, workers, entrepreneurs, cooperative members, women who live in rural, semi- rural areas, or small towns and who face difficulties in the labor market

The Ergani Centre and the Region of Western Macedonia implement the project “WIN- WIN: Women Network for Innovation and Entrepreneurship” which aims to the growth of the development figures and ratios, through the increase of female employment and entrepreneurship. The intervention areas of this project are within the trans- border area of Greece and FYROM, more specifically: Florina, Pella, Resen, Bitola, Krusevo and Demir Hisar.

In this project, women who are unemployed, workers, entrepreneurs, cooperative members, women who live in rural, semi- rural areas, or small towns and who face difficulties in the labor market, have the right to participate as beneficiaries.   

The beneficiaries will have access to information for career and subsidy opportunities and also they will be able to participate in consulting, mentoring, training and networking meetings. The services which will be provided in the prefectures of Florina and Pella through mobile units are the following:

  • Briefing of 150 women for employment opportunities, subsidies, legal services and business plans’ drafting.
  • Training of 48- 60 women aiming to improve their entrepreneurial skills, so that they are able to create effective business plans, leading to sustainable enterprises.
  • Counseling of 50- 60 women, in empower, self- awareness and cutting- edge issues that concern business people ( marketing, advertising, pricing, funding,development, etc.)   
Mentoring Services provided by 5 or 6 Mentors, who will coach 12- 15 women entrepreneurs or members of female cooperatives in improving and expanding their enterprises.

The Ergani Centre implements a project which is dedicated to the  promotion of equality of genders and defence of human rights. The project is financed by the General Secretariat for Gender Equality and is entitled “Ergani Centre: We Mobilize , Support , Empower and Network Women, aiming to a new Women’s Dynamic”

This project refers to women- victims of domestic violence and members of vulnerable groups (single parents, long term unemployed women, repatriated, women from special cultural groups, women with very low personal/ family income, entrepreneurs who closed down their business due to the effects of the economic crisis, young women beneath the age of 25 with no working experience and women who live in rural, inaccessible mountainous and semi-mountainous terrain) in the Regional units of Thessaloniki, Pella and Pieria in The Central Macedonian Region.

The Projects aims to:

1.      Develop new potentiality and scientific tools for the Ergani Centre, in order to increase influence in the Central Macedonia Region and therefore provide women with more opportunities.

2.      Support women- victims of domestic violence and women who come from vulnerable social groups, through multilevel, holistic actions.

3.      Fight against gender stereotypes, mainly as far as education, choice of occupation and entrepreneurial activities are concerned.

4.      Improve women’s potential in job seeking, through the development of skills and qualifications and through the creation of new, sustainable business, especially in traditionally male- dominated fields.

5.      Fund a Regional Network in Central Macedonia.

The project is implemented within the framework of “Support of Women N.G.O.s (women’s organisations)”, 3.2.4. Act, of the Operational Programme “Administrative Reform 2007- 2013”. The Beneficiary Body is the Special Implementation Service of the General Secretariat for Gender Equality and its duration is 24 months after the actions have begun, in June of 2012.

Program : Community Service Work

Title : Job creation at a local level, through community service programmes in the Central Macedonia Region.

Areas : In the Central Macedonia Region: Thessaloniki, Chalkidiki, Imathia, Pella and Pieria

Target group : Unemployed people or farmers who are insured by the Agricultural Insurance Organization and their income does not exceed the amount of 10.500€ per year for the financial year of 2010. The candidates must be Greek citizens, citizens from the European Union, repatriates or immigrants who have the right of residence and therefore access to the labour market in Greece

The primary aim of this project is the reinforcement employment to young people, for both men and women, emphasizing to special groups of society who suffer the most from unemployment: young men and women, long term unemployed people, people with no working experience, single parents, repatriates and immigrants, through job creation and development of professional expertise which will come from the beneficiaries’ activation towards implementing community service action. This project is innovative and aims to the multilevel support of its beneficiaries: apart from employment (training, networking, experience and expertise development) and to serve and support a big number of people who will indirectly   benefit and have as well suffered from the consequences of the economic crisis.

 

Expected results:

v  The creation of 65 new community service jobs in the Regional Units of Thessaloniki, Chalkidiki, Imathia, Pella and Pieria

v  The support of, mostly unemployed, persons, who come from vulnerable social groups, through the actions of the community service work.

v  The encouragement of initiative and lifelong learning for the beneficiaries of the project, through their own, dynamic occupation with the community service actions.

v  The acknowledgment of how important community service is, so that it is put to a more effective use in order for the vulnerable groups to work together  

v  The reinforcement of solidarity and giving among people

v  The invigoration of youth, women and vulnerable groups’ employment, through active employment policies.

v  The mobilization and activation of the most socially excluded groups, aiming to promote them to the labor market

v  The creation of enterprises and women cooperatives from the project’s indirect beneficiaries

v  The improvement of employment policies’ efficiency

v  The raising of public awareness for the youth, women and vulnerable groups employment, for social cohesion and solidarity.

The University of Western Macedonia, in collaboration with the Ergani Centre, within the framework of “Mentors’ training in the framework of Innovation and Entrepreneurship Unit of the University of Western Macedonia” project, implemented a 25- hour training program  for entrepreneurs and business people of the private sector , who have at least three years of experience, so they take up the role of the Mentor and support the students in order to create sustainable and realistic business plans.

The project is funded by the “Education and Lifelong Learning” 2007- 2013” Operational Programme,
