The 1st Advisory Panel Meeting took place on Thursday, 5th February 2015. The meeting was successfully organized by our partners in Ergani, who made all the invitations and necessary arrangements with the panel members. Our panel included policy-makers (the debuty mayor for social policy issues), entrepreneurs representing the business world of Thessaloniki and the regional innovation hub, and people from business coaching and mentoring.

The last meeting of the Youth Epoca project partners took place in Madrid

The last meeting of Youth Epoca project took place in Madrid from 26 February until 2 March of 2014. The main objective of this meeting is to finalise our toolkit for a youth European social and political collective actions. The young Ergani Team presented its own action plan and the outcomes of our surveys/debates/interviews. Young people from Greece, Spain and Belgium, decided to give birth to a dynamic that will develop our possibilities to act collectively on political and social democracy. Youth in Action is the Programme the European Union has set up for young people. It aims to inspire a sense of active European citizenship, solidarity and tolerance among young Europeans and to involve them in shaping the Union's future

Beneficiaries interviews in the framework of Eliemental project

On the 6th of November, 2013, a workshop took place in the frame of Applied Research, where 2nd & 3rd level Psychology students from City college, the International Faculty of Sheffield University, were trained in conducting an interview. Theory and practice (i.e. role-playing) were included. The project's activities and goals were communicated throughout the workshop, to the 16 students who were trained. Shortly after that, on the 22nd of November, 2013, the interviews with 10 participants from our target population (unemployed women aged 40+) were completed at the ERGANI center. After completion of the interviews, we were very happy to hear that the participants were very interested in getting involved in the project!

City vegetable garden- 2 nd Invitation to potential beneficiaries

Ergani Center and the Municipality of Neapoli - Sykies of the project entitled “Social Structures of direct confrontation of poverty” invite potential beneficiaries in order to express interest for their participation to the structure of City vegetable garden. This work has been approved by the General Secretariat of Community and other resources of the Ministry of Labor, Social Security and Provision in in the frame of Operational Plan “Development of Manpower”, which is financed both by Greek Government and the European Union.

1st Newsletter of Eliemental project

Recently, has been published the first newsletter concerning the project “Eliemental”, which is implemented by Ergani Center at the frame of Leonardo Da Vinci programme. To the whole project are participating partners and universities from United Kingdom, Romania and Poland. More specifically, the participants of the project are: •The university of Valahia of Targoviste , Romania (lead partner) •The university of Lancaster, Great Britain •The research center of of the Southeast Europe, (SEERC), Greece •The Management Department of the university of Lodz, Poland •Tameside college, Great Britain •The Net of National minorities, East area, (Menter), Cambridge, Great Britain •The Business Group company of Salford, Great Britain The project is concerning the promotion of vulnerable groups like, gypsies, long term unemployed women over 45 years old to entrepreneurship in the framework of a specialized programme of mentoring and guidance.

Ergani Center was present at of “Balkan Square’s events” that took place in the city of Neapoli

The Ergani center’s kiosk attracted the interest of the people that attended the events of Balkan Square. From 31/8 to 7/9 the staff of the social services of the municipality of Neapoli- Sykies informed more than 500 people for the purpose of the project “Social Structure of Poverty’s direct confrontation in the municipality of Neapoli-Sykies” but also for the way that someone could take advance of its services. To our Call a lot of habitants of the municipality responded, by offering food and drugs as well, which are going to support the operation of the Social Structure of “common meal”, the Social Grocery Store and the Social Pharmacy. Moreover, people showed great interest for the activities of the Time Bank

Awareness and Sensitization Campaign for the Municipality of Neapolis – Sykies citizens

The staff of the “Time Bank” and the “Liaison Office” of Ergani Center carried out an awareness campaign in the framework of the project “Social Structures for direct tackling poverty at the municipality of Neapolis –Sykies. The action took place in every neighborhood of the Municipality, where the staff had handed out informative material and brochures, alongside with more than 2500 vegetable roots. Initially, the citizens’ awareness and sensitization campaign started on 21/06/2013 at the area of Pefka, where the citizens’ response was quite large. Afterwards the campaign held on 28/06/2013 at “Clock Square” of Neapoli area. The next period 1-4 July, people informed on the services of the social structures both in Sykies (at the flee market) and in Neapoli (clock square and -church of St. George area). At the near future many more similar actions will follow. We are asking from everyone to contribute by offering: food, medicines and clothing. Every kind of offer is very significant. Let's make the beginning, by showing support to people who encountering survival problems

Call for expression of interest of potential beneficiaries from the Social Pharmacy, within the framework of the Act “Social Structures for Immediate Confrontation of Poverty” in Neapolis- Sykies Municipality”

The Neapolis- Sykies Municipality and the Ergani Centre as Lead Partner, invite potential beneficiaries to express their interest for participation in the actions of the Social Pharmacy, a structure which is operating within the framework of “Social Structures for Immediate Confrontation of Poverty in Neapolis- Sykies” Act. The Act is adopted by the Ministry of Labor’s General Secretariat for the management of Community and other Funds, within the framework of Operational Programme “DEVELOPMENT OF HUMAN RESOURCES” and co-financed by the ESF (European Social Fund). The Social Pharmacy will be providing, free of charge, sanitary, pharmaceutical and parapharmaceutical material to 100 beneficiaries. All the material will be gathered through: • Specific collaborations with certain pharmaceutical industries • Collaboration with local groups and organizations • The mobilization and support of every concerned citizen. The Social Pharmacy is placed on the second floor of the municipal building in Neapolis, Agiou Stefanou Street, number 26 and it is open from Monday through Friday, between 9.00 and 17.00. The beneficiaries who will be receiving the services of the Social Pharmacy, must fall under one of the following categories: o Uninsured persons with very low annual income o Persons who possess proof of poverty o Long term unemployed beyond the age of 45 o Members of families affected with multiple unemployment o Unemployed single parents o Unemployed members of large families o Unemployed, members of families who support family members with disabilities or chronic illnesses o Persons with very low annual income (the financial conditions for a person to be certified as indigent, are described by the Directorate of Social Welfare to be the following: for one person, maximum income limit 6.000 € and for every other person, the amount of 1.200 € is added, while the rent is abstracted). Also, the employment situation of family members will be taken into account. The candidates, along with the application, must provide the following documents: 1. A photocopy of Identity Card or Passport 2. A photocopy of Unemployment Card 3. A Residence Certificate or a Registration Certificate in Municipal Roll or an electricity/phone bill in the name of the potential beneficiary 4. A certified copy of the IRS financial statement 5. A solemn declaration of the 1599/86 law to ensure that the person is participating to the program through only one of the implementing bodies. 6. The Neapolis- Sykies Municipality and the Ergani Centre as Lead Parnter, invite potential beneficiaries to express their interest for participation in the actions of the Social Grocery, a structure which is operating within the framework of “Social Structures for Immediate Address of Poverty in Neapolis- Sykies” Act. The Act is adopted by the Ministry of Labor’s General Secretariat for the management of Community and other Funds, within the framework of Operational Programme “DEVELOPMENT OF HUMAN RESOURCES” and co-financed by the ESF (European Social Fund). The social Grocery is located on the ground floor of the municipal building in Neapolis, Agiou Stefanou Street, number 26. It is a structure which appeals to residents of Neapolis- Sykies and aims to fight poverty, while improving the living standards of the area’s families and persons, who are in a state of need. Its operation is based upon collection and contribution of food, everyday use goods, clothing and sanitary material, to cover every basic and secondary need. It will be open from Monday through Friday between 9.00 and 17.00. 150 families of Neapolis- Sykies Municipality will benefit from the services of the Social Grocery. Each family will be receiving 40 euros worth of food and essentials per month. The beneficiaries who will be receiving the services of the Social Grocery, must fall under one of the following categories: o Uninsured persons with very low annual income o Persons who possess proof of poverty o Long term unemployed beyond the age of 45 o Members of families affected with multiple unemployment o Unemployed single parents o Unemployed members of large families o Unemployed, members of families who support family members with disabilities or chronic illnesses o Persons with very low annual income (the financial conditions for a person to be certified as indigent, are described by the Directorate of Social Welfare to be the following: for one person, maximum income limit 6.000 € and for every other person, the amount of 1.200 € is added, while the rent is abstracted).
